This is a full-time federal position with the Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) under the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The salary range is $40,736 to $97,087 per year, including locality pay. Open to all U.S. citizens.
About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment Victim Advocate to eligible installation-level military personnel, civilians, and dependents.
Requirements
- Designated drug testing position
- Must obtain and maintain a security clearance
- May be required to travel for temporary duty
- May have extended or non-standard duty hours
- Requires a high degree of discretion regarding sensitive information
- Position is designated as a public trust; a Tier 3 background investigation is required every 5 years per OPM requirements
- Must obtain and maintain DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification and recertification from the National Organization of Victim Assistance (NOVA), as specified in DoD and Air Force policy
- Must possess a valid driver’s license to operate a privately owned vehicle (POV) or government-owned vehicle (GOV)
Qualifications
- Knowledge of social science and social work principles, concepts, and practices related to victim advocacy and prevention of and response to sexual assault/sexual harassment
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, executive orders, and Air Force organizational structure, policies, and practices related to sexual assault/sexual harassment victim advocacy and interpersonal violence
- Knowledge of social service delivery systems, methods, and theories related to victim advocacy and sexual assault/sexual harassment
- Knowledge of training and education techniques to implement and deliver sexual assault/sexual harassment training
- Skill in applying tact and diplomacy during interactions with internal and external officials in difficult and sensitive circumstances
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to identify, modify, and provide victim support and assistance
- Ability to employ methods and techniques typical of a sexual assault/sexual harassment victim advocate program, including crisis intervention, situational assessment, and analyzing victim needs to provide support
