Sexual Assault Advocacy Specialist

About the role

YWCA Clark County offers a 4-day, 32-hour work week, and provides 8 hours of Company Sponsored Time for you to use on Fridays to maintain work-life balance while maintaining pay at 40 hours a week.

Responsibilities

Provide direct services including general, medical, and legal advocacy to primary victims/survivors and/or secondary victims/survivors. This may include support and information over the phone, in person, and via video conferencing software, as well as in-person or virtual advocacy at various locations such as schools, detention centers, and courthouses.

• Communicate with law enforcement, legal agencies, community organizations, and other relevant programs to provide survivor-directed support.
• Refer program participants to other YWCA Clark County programs according to participant needs and program procedures.
• Monitor warrant cases and communicate with legal agencies and families as appropriate.
• Coordinate and co-facilitate survivor-centered support groups.
• Document and report participant-related information in a manner that complies with federal and state requirements.
• Attend community and outreach events, further education, training, and certification opportunities.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners and organizations.
• Maintain program confidentiality as mandated by program policy and Washington State Statute.

Requirements

There is a strong social justice component to this role, requiring critical thinking through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Minimum education and experience include a high school diploma or G.E.D. and experience working with persons in crisis.

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Dependable means of transportation is required, with occasional nights and/or weekends.
• Language fluency in English is required, with bilingual skills preferred.
• Strong time management, self-directed, and team work skills are necessary.
• Ability to work at a higher level, maintain strong boundaries, and demonstrate unwavering integrity.
• Strong critical thinking, technological, and soft skills are required.
• Strong advocacy and crisis management skills are necessary, with self-awareness and willingness to incorporate vicarious resiliency practices.

Pay

The hourly wage for this role is $25.96-$26.96.
