Sexual Assault Advocacy Specialist

Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week (32 work hours + 8 hours of company-sponsored time on Fridays to maintain work-life balance). Pay range: $25.96/hour + $1 bilingual differential.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services including general, medical, and legal advocacy to primary and secondary victims/survivors (e.g., family, friends, guardians) at various locations:
  • Support and information via phone, in person, or video conferencing.
  • Advocacy at schools, Clark County Juvenile Detention Center, Clark County Jail, Children’s Justice Center, Clark County Courthouse, and police precincts.
  • Support during medical forensic exams at Peace Health or Legacy Salmon Creek emergency rooms.
• Communicate with law enforcement, legal agencies, community organizations, county/state/federal agencies, and other relevant programs to provide survivor-directed support.
• Refer sexual assault program participants to other YWCA Clark County programs as needed.
• Monitor warrant cases and communicate with legal agencies and families.
• Manage an active caseload and provide ongoing advocacy under the program director’s guidance.
• Coordinate and co-facilitate survivor-centered support groups:
  • Maintain and update group curriculum per grant requirements.
  • Facilitate 8-week psychoeducational support group sessions.
  • Submit intake, reporting, and feedback paperwork.
  • Maintain relationships with co-facilitating partners.
  • Uphold a regular schedule for all support groups.
• Document and report participant-related information in compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies.
• Attend community outreach events as directed by the program manager.
• Participate in further education, training, and certification opportunities with director approval.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners and organizations.
• Make mandatory reports as legally required.
• Collaborate on program special events.
• Maintain program confidentiality per policy and Washington State Statute.
• Follow program and organizational policies and procedures.
• Track hours worked and submit monthly timesheets on time.
• Uphold and model the organization’s core values daily:
  • Treat participants, staff, volunteers, and community partners with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender, or socioeconomic status.
  • Engage in activities meeting the organization’s 1% for Social Change requirement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Experience working with persons in crisis.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check (convictions per WA Administration Code 170-06-0120 may disqualify).
• Dependable means of transportation.
• Occasional nights and/or weekends required.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written communication with participants, co-workers, and community partners). Bilingual skills preferred.
• Strong time management skills to handle a supervisor-determined caseload and related paperwork.
• Ability to work in a self-directed manner, including conducting work-related research as needed.
• Team-oriented approach with open, respectful, and solution-focused communication.
• Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and willingness to correct mistakes.
• Ability to maintain strong boundaries and respect participant privacy.
• Strong critical thinking skills to resolve challenges and seek guidance when needed.
