Sewing Machine Operator

Core Functions

  • Operates various machines to ensure continuous production at a constant rate of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials throughout the entire shift
  • Performs in-process inspections of parts throughout the manufacturing run and ensures they meet visual standards of acceptance
  • Responsible for producing parts in the proper quantity as identified by the production schedule
  • Performs necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion
  • Performs operational procedures to ensure the quality of the product packaged
  • Maintains condition of work area to meet 5-S standards
  • Communicates with team members and supports teams

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
  • Prior experience operating manufacturing, packaging, and process control equipment preferred

Physical Requirements

  • This position is subject to Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • This position is subject to the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, crawling, and repetitive motions
  • Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes
  • Working Conditions: The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including heat, noise, vibration, and hazards from a production-based environment
