Responsibilities
- Fill pillow shells with fiber and place them on the conveyor to be sewn.
- Operate single-needle sewing or surging machines to sew pillows, including accurately sewing law tags and care labels.
- Remove filled pillow shells from the conveyor belt, sew them, and return completed pillows for further processing.
- Replace needles and re-thread machines as needed.
- Remove completed pillows from the conveyor belt and bag them.
- Remove packaging from finished pillows for re-packaging in different packages.
- Make necessary changes to finished products, including price ticketing bags and pillow shells.
- Adjust components prior to production as needed.
- Perform production changeover duties between work orders.
- Use all company equipment and property safely and carefully.
- Report any equipment problems to a supervisor or the maintenance department.
- Perform duties in a manner that ensures personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills.
- Previous industrial sewing experience preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to occasionally carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to ambulate or stand for twelve hours a day.
- Ability to sit or stand and sew for a full shift.
