Setup Tech
About the role
Scope Setup Techs are tasked with start-to-finish setup of mill, lathe, and CNC machines to produce high-quality valve and regulator parts. These individuals read blueprints, start and operate manual and CNC machines, perform quality checks with various gaging equipment, and perform minor preventative machine maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Starts machines, positions and secures workpiece, and engages bar feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms.
- Reads blueprints and understands symbols for concentricity, runout, surface finish, machined/non-machined surfaces, seat areas, and dimensions.
- Detects product defects, contains defects, and resolves issues.
- Works through machine malfunctions, performs basic troubleshooting, and makes minor adjustments as necessary.
- Replaces dull or worn tooling in machines using hand tools.
- Removes burrs, sharp edges, and tool marks from products using files, hand grinders, wire brushes, and power tools.
- Performs quality checks by collecting measurements and dimensions using calipers, go/no go gages, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, concentricity gages and other measuring tools.
- Enters quality control data using Statistical Process Control System.
- Performs minor preventative maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or workpieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.
- Participates in the ECI 6S program centered around work area safety (organization, standardization, and cleanliness) throughout the shift.
- Engages in Kaizen events, a program focused on the continuous improvement of safety and efficiency practices related to individuals and processes within the manufacturing warehouse.
Requirements
