Course description: Forest conservation issues in Canada; fundamentals of forest biology and ecology; forest biodiversity; development of forest management philosophy in Canadian forested regions; concepts of sustainability. Sustainable forest management strategies; forest policy and economics in a Canadian context; forest certification; protected areas.

- Tutorial: Fridays 10:00AM – 11:00AM
- Lecture: Wednesdays 6:00PM – 8:00PM

Salary (per half-course, inclusive of vacation)
- Sessional Lecturer I: $ 9,997.58
- Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $ 10,699.22
- Sessional Lecturer II: $ 10,699.22
- Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $ 10,953.96
- Sessional Lecturer III: $ 10,953.96
- Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 11,228.90
Minimum qualifications
Preferably a Ph.D. degree or extensive experience in forest conservation; teaching experience and certificates an asset.
Description of duties
Prepare and deliver lectures, organize guest speakers, maintain course notes and readings on Quercus, set and mark course assignments which may include mid-term, essay and final examination or other assignments with the support of TA; compile, record and submit final marks. Be available to students through regular office hours.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
