Sessional Lecturer | FOR3010HS - Society and Forest Conservation
About the role
The course focuses on social and political dimensions of human-forest interactions and theoretical approaches to study these interactions. It explores the social practices, institutions and regimes of power and knowledge in shaping human-forest relations. Taking a political ecology approach, the course examines how power, knowledge, culture, and nature intersect and shape each other; and explore issues of equity and justice in different forest governance contexts. The course explores forest governance challenges in different parts of the world, including in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lectures
- Organize guest speakers
- Maintain course notes and readings
- Set and mark course assignments, which may include mid-term, essay and final examination or other assignments
- Compile, record and submit final marks
- Be available to students through regular office hours
- Ensure CFAB competency elements 1.1.4, 1.1.5, 2.1.3, 3.1.1 to 3.1.5, 3.2.1,3.2.2,3.2.5,3.2.7,7.1.2,7.1.4,8A3.1 are covered and evaluated within course
Requirements
Preferably a Ph.D. degree or extensive experience in forest conservation with a thorough knowledge of the forestry industry and forest governance; teaching experience an asset.

- Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 11,228.90
