Sessional Lecturer - FAH262H1F Art and Visual Experience in Modern and Contemporary East Asia

About the role

A Sessional Lecturer is needed to teach FAH262H1F Art and Visual Experience in Modern and Contemporary East Asia. The course covers major monuments and themes in the art and architecture of East Asia and its diaspora from the 19th to the 20th century.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver one 2-hour lecture per week
• Develop and publish the syllabus and marking scheme through Quercus
• Create and mark relevant assignments for student assessment
• (If applicable) Set and invigilate term tests and final examinations/assignments
• Grade and report final grades
• Maintain office hours for academic counseling of students
• Answer queries by email or appointment
• Supervise Teaching Assistants (TA)

Requirements

• MA in Art History or a related field is required; PhD in Art History is strongly preferred
• Teaching, writing, and communication skills in the history of art are required
• Demonstrated experience in various writing genres and styles associated with art history, including museum exhibitions, publications, reviews, criticism, academic analysis, popular print, and media
• Demonstrated experience supporting students' academic writing skills
• At least two years of experience creating and marking undergraduate writing assignments, exercises, and/or undergraduate essays in art history

Qualifications

• MA in Art History or a related field is required; PhD in Art History is strongly preferred

• Experience supporting students' academic writing skills

• Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term: $10,699.22
• Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.22
• Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term: $10,953.96
• Sessional Lecturer Ill: $10,953.96
• Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term: $11,228.90

Schedule

The sessional lecturer will be scheduled to teach Fridays 1:00pm - 3:00pm (In Person) from September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. Any course work and marking not completed by December 31, 2026, will need to be completed.
