About the Role
The Operations Manager of Valve & Mechanical Services is responsible for the efficient operation, quality, and P&L management of the Mechanical Valve Repair/Machining facility. This role oversees multiple projects, including scheduling, engineering, budgets, production, material and document control, and purchases, while ensuring all Valve Repair activities comply with set quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage all Valve Repair/machining activities at the facility, prioritizing safety, quality, production, profit, and cost.
- Coordinate and supervise Valve Repair/machining activities, including inventory and purchasing, to ensure product availability and efficient use of materials, equipment, and employees.
- Assign work to Valve Repair personnel, set work schedules, inspect work, and evaluate performance.
- Directly supervise and motivate all Valve Repair production personnel, ensuring efficiency and quality of supervisory and staff.
- Plan schedules for Valve Repair lead hands and machinists.
- Oversee quality control of valve testing and repair activities, developing and implementing procedures to meet quality requirements.
- Ensure Valve Repair personnel are properly certified and trained (e.g., National Board certifications) and enforce certification guidelines for safety relief procedures.
- Inspect Valve Repair facilities and equipment, recommend space allocation changes, and evaluate major equipment additions or modifications.
- Maintain accurate Valve Repair timelines, develop production goals, and track results to ensure on-time shipments and maximize efficiency.
- Take ownership of delegated projects and manage them to completion.
- Enforce policies, procedures, and compliance with legislated and company safety procedures.
Requirements
- General knowledge of valve repair/machining equipment, modern shop technology, practices, and procedures.
- Valve Repair experience, including familiarity with production planning and scheduling.
- Knowledge and experience in NBIC regulatory requirements and safety practices.
- Experience managing adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure quality standards are met.
- Shop, personnel, and project management experience.
- Ability to implement and adhere to strict schedules, timelines, and budgets.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask, make quick decisions, and efficiently organize others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and put in additional hours to meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership skills to manage a diverse group of people and motivate staff to work as a team.
- Ability to instruct or train staff in specific operating and technical work methods or procedures.
