About the Role

Conducts all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. Wears proper personal protective equipment. Works in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways to improve methods, work areas, and safety standards. Assists with maintaining facility appearance and shop conditions by following contamination control guidelines, including housekeeping, and performing general maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

  • Attends and successfully completes required technician training classes.
  • Maintains a minimum set of tools required for job performance to disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Interprets structural drawings and performs layout and assembly functions with minimal supervision.
  • Prepares parts or materials for welding and performs appropriate welding for repairs as per experience or specified procedures.
  • Completes required documentation using appropriate software to record repairs and account for repair times.
  • Monitors job expenses versus repair estimates and informs the supervisor of any cost overruns before job completion.
  • Trains and/or mentors others in the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 3-4 years of experience.
  • Completed required training curriculum to be designated a Service Welder II.
  • 3G and 4G SMAW, FCAW, GMAW certifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety requirements and procedures related to oxygen/acetylene welding, cutting, heating, and carbon air arc metal removal.
  • 2-5 years of welding and fabricating experience.

Skills

  • Ability to comprehend written material and communicate effectively orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • Proficiency in computer use, Microsoft Office products, and relevant dealer software programs (highly desired).
  • Complex problem-solving ability with minimal guidance.
  • Creativity in developing new approaches to daily activities.
  • Autonomy in setting priorities and making decisions to achieve desired outcomes.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent climbing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing/pulling/lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional balancing, stooping, pushing/pulling/lifting 26-50 lbs and over 50 lbs.
  • Constant talking and hearing.

Environmental Conditions

  • Constant exposure to inside conditions with temperature changes.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, oils, and air particulates.
  • Occasional exposure to outside conditions, extreme cold, and air contaminants requiring respirator use.
