Service Technician - Tulsa

Responsibilities

• Service HVAC, building control systems, electric/pneumatic air-flow systems, water-flow systems, gas/electric heating and cooling equipment, boilers, valves, apparatus, and lines used in the distribution of heated, chilled, or processed water.
• Operate, diagnose, and repair computerized building management systems, variable frequency drive units, and computerized maintenance management systems.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by servicing products and equipment on assigned projects.
• Use hand-tools, blueprints, and engineering specifications to diagnose and repair units.
• Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair systems and products.
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed or requested by customers.
• Prepare for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work.
• Maintain equipment by inspecting for signs of wear.
• Serve as direct customer contact, ensuring jobs are completed within allotted hours and budget.
• Assist in ordering parts for repairs and ensuring timeliness of need.
• Document work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration; maintain files and records of parts, material, labor, and other cost data.
• Read and interpret product specifications, building specifications, drawings, and designs.
• Work overtime, weekends, or on-call rotation as necessary.
• Train, direct, or mentor tradesmen, apprentices, or shop technicians as needed.
• Maintain company equipment, truck, assigned tools, and shop equipment.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of a five-year trade school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning or 6 years of related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
• Above-average math skills and ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical design schematics.
• Ability to evaluate standard technical situations and troubleshoot common operator mistakes leading to improper system operation.
• EPA Universal Certification and state driver’s license with acceptable driving record, auto insurance, and registration.
• Professional license (HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, etc.) preferred.
• Ability to read and understand simple instructions, correspondence, policy manuals, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Effective communication skills for person-to-person and small-group situations with customers, clients, the public, and other employees.

Working conditions

• Performed in mechanical/equipment room environments, outdoors, and in extreme weather conditions.
• Requires heavy auto travel, exposing employee to hazardous weather and traffic conditions.
• Frequent exposure to risk of electrical shock, wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment.

Physical requirements

• Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger/handle/feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, or crawl.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
