Service Technician / Trailer Mechanic

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled service technician/trailer mechanic to join our team. This is a great opportunity if you enjoy a fast-paced, team-oriented, dynamic work environment that offers a wide variety of repair and maintenance functions on trucks, trailers, and bulk commodity handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance tasks, conduct inspections, and complete repairs on heavy-duty vehicles, trailers, and cargo tanks.
• Document work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair air, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Perform a wide variety of maintenance and diagnostic functions on bulk liquid handling equipment such as PTO’s, pumps, meters, reels, etc.
• Account for all time and materials used in performing assigned duties.
• Maintain understanding and proper use of all tooling needed for cargo tank repairs.
• Maintain general housekeeping by keeping the shop clean and free from oil, fluids, etc.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude for equipment repair.
• Welding & fabrication experience preferred.
• Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems is desired.
• A self-starter that works as a team member under the direction of management.
• Able to prioritize work and follow through with repairs.
• Able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work.
• Must have basic hand tools or willing to invest in them.
• Safety conscious – knows how to look out for him/herself and others in the work environment.
• Able to frequently lift to 50 lbs. Able to lift 65 lbs. from floor to shoulder level occasionally.
• Requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, lifting, carrying, and reaching or handling with arms, hands, and fingers. Also crawling and working in narrow spaces.
• Requires frequent repetitive movements, i.e., hammering, turning wrenches.
• Exposed to heat, cold, noise, mechanical/electrical fume or odor.

Compensation

$40,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
