About the role
This position requires a strong background in HVAC, building control systems, and related fields. The role demands a high level of technical expertise and a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities
- Operate, repair, and maintain various HVAC and building control systems.
- Diagnose and repair units using a variety of hand-tools.
- Perform preventative maintenance and replace components as needed.
- Prepare for on-site installations and repairs by examining building layouts and coordinating work.
- Inspect equipment for signs of wear and tear.
- Represent the company by interacting directly with customers and managing their expectations.
- Document work thoroughly, including time, progress, and duration, and maintain accurate records.
- Order and manage parts for repairs and ensure timely delivery.
- Interpret product specifications, building drawings, and designs.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call rotations.
- Train, direct, or mentor tradesmen, apprentices, or shop technicians as needed.
Qualifications
- Completion of a five-year trade school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning or equivalent experience.
- Completion of EPA Universal Certification, preferred with additional certifications like HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, etc.
- State driver’s license, auto insurance, auto registration, and acceptable driving record.
- Above-average math skills and ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical design schematics.
- Ability to evaluate technical situations and troubleshoot common issues.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in specialty software provided upon hire.
- Effective communication skills, including reading and writing simple instructions and correspondence.
- Frequent exposure to mechanical/equipment rooms, outdoor environments, and potentially hazardous conditions.
- Physical capabilities to lift up to 100 pounds, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills, including continuous improvement and seeking growth opportunities.
- Compliance with confidentiality and conduct policies, as well as antitrust laws.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to work in a Safety Sensitive Position.
