About the Role

The Residential Service Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert responsible for alleviating customer concerns regarding security systems. You will advise customers and the customer care center on system status, conduct inspections, repair or replace inoperative equipment, and test systems for operation. You will also read blueprints and building plans to complete equipment repairs and coordinate with police, fire departments, or other agencies as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Service fire and carbon monoxide detection, networking, hosted video solutions, and access control.
  • Follow and complete required processes for wired/wireless technology and connection procedures.
  • Test and validate system signals/communication with central monitoring to properly establish service.
  • Demonstrate customer service excellence by helping customers understand and fix their home security systems.
  • Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.
  • Readjust, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
  • Read blueprints, building, and electrical plans to complete equipment repairs.
  • Prepare trouble order forms to report temporary repairs.
  • Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience installing and inspecting/repairing ADT or comparable product lines.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to read building electrical and sprinkler plans.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, lift, climb, and crawl as required.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $23.00–$42.71 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Commission may apply for certain roles.
