Position Summary
The Service Technician I is a key associate responsible for providing an outstanding customer experience while ensuring cost and expense controls. They work on the Property Management team to troubleshoot, make proper repairs, and provide excellent customer service for Progress Residential single-family homes.
Essential Functions
- Quickly assess situations and determine appropriate steps to resolve service requests
- Provide outstanding customer service and represent Progress Residential's standards
- Conduct services in accordance with company policies and regulations (e.g., Lead Based Paint, ADA, Fair Housing, HAZCOM Program, OSHA)
- Maintain fleet vehicle and inventory within company guidelines
- Diagnose and perform service or repairs as directed, including:
- Electrical and plumbing
- Appliances
- Water irrigation systems
- Stairs, gates, fences, patios, railings
- Tiles, carpets, flooring
- Interior/exterior lights
- Fireplaces, ceiling fans, gas fixtures and appliances
- Shutters, doors, cabinets, windows, and sliding glass doors
- Door locks, mailboxes, and locks
- Security systems
- Leaks
- Walls
- Pools, tile, hot tub/spa, pool furniture
- Complete routine preventive services on residential properties
- Report all major repairs and needs before expenditures
- Ensure property conditions are safe and correct any unsafe conditions immediately
- Follow fleet vehicle maintenance schedule and keep workspace clean
- Adhere to workplace safety standards and practices
- Complete service requests professionally and promptly
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Driver’s License in the working state
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in general service or similar responsibilities
- Required equipment: Own basic tools for residential service
- Available for on-call service work
- Available for weekends and evenings
- Previous experience in single-family or multi-family rental industry preferred
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, interact tactfully with residents, vendors/contractors, and handle confidential matters
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Physical demands: Sitting, standing, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 pounds
- Knowledgeable of relevant laws and EPA/Osha regulations
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and handheld computer (preferred)
