Service Technician/ Diesel Mechanic

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, this full-time Truck Technician position supports the service team with maintenance and repairs of large trucks. You’ll work in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Fairbanks featuring spacious bays, great lighting, and up-to-date technology. The equipment shop is located right next door, and a coffee shop is nearby for quick breaks.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and pre-deliver new equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and estimate repair of used equipment.
• Maintain rental fleet for repair and cleanliness.
• Occasionally travel to customer's location to repair equipment.
• Use computers to look up parts, research service practices, prepare estimates, and generate service reports.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on transmission and differential, U-joint/drivetrain, brakes and axles, air systems, electrical systems, chassis, and suspension.
• Document detailed repair stories.
• Perform DOT inspections.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• 1-3 years of experience working with large trucks and/or heavy equipment or formal mechanical training.
• Troubleshooting skills in engine and vehicle systems.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Great communication and time management skills.
• Able to work 40+ hours per week.
• Able to operate tools associated with equipment repair.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Lift at least 30 pounds on a regular basis.
• Stand for long periods of time.
• Bend, lift, and push as required.
