About the role
As a Service Technician, you are the front line and point person for our brand to the rider, driving successful, profitable retail by elevating your technical expertise to deliver outstanding in-store brand experiences. You work directly with riders—both in person and remotely—to identify and deliver the goods, services, and experiences they need quickly and frictionlessly, keeping them riding longer and better. You collaborate hands-on with staff and local riders as a host, mentor, brand advocate, and technical service ace.
Responsibilities
- Meet and connect with riders, ask qualifying questions, listen to their needs, and present options and advice from a pre-set service menu, tune-ups, or à la carte services.
- Speak authoritatively on technical matters related to our bicycles; serve as the expert.
- Assist customers in an enthusiastic and courteous manner; deliver “wow” customer service.
- Properly intake all service work, set and exceed rider expectations, and correctly fill out service work orders and schedule an appropriate number of repairs.
- Advise and assist customers with product/service selection without bias.
- Develop and maintain deep knowledge of all merchandise in the department to provide accurate information; stay current as new product lines are introduced.
- Assist with bike sales through technical consulting and perform other bike floor duties as needed.
- Deliver best-in-class rider service that ensures ongoing service and high levels of rider satisfaction.
- Maintain general cleanliness standards at store opening, throughout the day, and at close, including light janitorial duties.
- Use Lightspeed point-of-sale systems and store operational websites proficiently.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Requirements
- Passion for cycling and the Specialized brand.
- Bike shop or bike mechanic experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with riders and team members.
- Ability to work as business dictates, including weekends.
- Ability to stand for extended periods; occasional walking, kneeling, or reaching.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. or more and use proper lifting techniques.
