Service Technician

About the Role

Assists the Service Supervisor in preserving and maintaining physical facilities and grounds within the community to ensure they are safe and aesthetically appealing to residents and prospective residents. Also assists in other types of maintenance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides service to residents in a prompt and professional manner.
• Performs repair work on vacant apartments in a timely fashion.
• Assists the Service Supervisor in completing projects.
• Completes service requests in a timely manner.
• Completes preventive maintenance checklist.
• Performs on-call duty for emergencies or when assigned.
• Handles interior painting of buildings and amenities.
• Approves routine maintenance and repairs.
• Replaces minor parts.
• Develops, reviews, and submits to the Service Supervisor for approval:
  • Replacement of major equipment.
  • Ideas for improving service and performance.

Requirements

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or two years of related experience at an apartment community and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be results-oriented and a self-starter.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
• Able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.

Skills

• Mechanically inclined with knowledge of plumbing, heating, air conditioning, construction, and electrical procedures.
• Proficient in using all types of hand and power tools, Freon recovery machinery, air conditioning gauges, and vacuum pumps.
