About the role
The Service Technician is a critical role that requires skills in welding, grinding, fabrication, and electrical work to efficiently repair tank trailers. This position also requires mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting experience, and inspection and communication abilities. It is a fast-paced but rewarding work environment that demands accountability while working together in teams.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and evaluate tanks quickly and accurately
- Diagnose and troubleshoot material, mechanical, and electrical failures
- Develop and coordinate project work scopes, including task and parts lists
- Develop project schedules and manage them efficiently, recovering from delays as needed
- Conduct routine and special inspections as required
- Understand systems, including tracing systems and installing and commissioning complex components
- Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications
- Maintain schedule reports, repair logs, and other project documentation
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal customers and coworkers
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Vocational training or technical associate degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing and service
- Experience working in small teams
- Ability to drive a semi-truck is a plus
- ASME certification is a plus

- Able to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Able to troubleshoot and determine causes of operating errors
- Able to identify complex problems and develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Solid foundation of mechanical aptitude and ability
- Solid welding and assembly skills
- Able to test tanks
- Knowledge of brakes, airlines, and trailer electrical systems
- Basic hydraulic knowledge
- Ability to work safely and comply with DOT regulations
