About the Role

We are seeking motivated Service Technicians of various skill levels with a problem-solving mentality. Service Technicians diagnose issues and perform standard general repairs on drive-train components, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on company and/or customers’ heavy equipment across shop and field settings. Responsibilities vary by location, assignment, and expertise.

Responsibilities

Participate in required safety programs and work in a safe manner.
Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and locate mechanical deficiencies on heavy equipment.
Determine repair solutions based on education and experience.
Source and order parts as needed.
Perform repairs on mobile equipment in a field environment without supervision.
Perform welding and brazing, fabricate and modify parts, equipment, and miscellaneous structures as needed.
Repair and/or replace components of engine hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, suspension systems, drive trains, electrical systems, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systems.
Maintain a sense of urgency to ensure customer satisfaction.
Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required to maintain customer satisfaction.
Perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures.
Comply with all applicable DOT requirements.
Travel and work remotely as required, including overnight stays.
Support the organization’s goals and priorities.

Requirements

General knowledge of complex hydraulic, electrical, and drive-train systems.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, drive-train, and air conditioning systems.
General welding and fabrication skills.
Thorough understanding of equipment operation.
Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic test equipment.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information from hydraulic and electrical schematics.
High School diploma or GED (technical school graduate preferred).
Experience with Volvo construction equipment or paving equipment is a plus.
Must possess and maintain an acceptable safe driving record.
Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Certification.

Skills

Written communication skills to document repair details.
Ability to read and follow written instructions.
Effective communication with supervisors and customers regarding repair causes and corrections.

Able to sit, stand, walk, read, talk, write, and hear.
Continuously lift and/or move-carry up to 10 pounds.
Frequently lift and/or move-carry up to 20 pounds.
Occasionally lift and/or move-carry 21–75 pounds.
Continuously push and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
Frequently push and/or pull up to 75 pounds.
Occasionally push and/or pull 76–100 pounds.
Work in a shop or field environment with exposure to extreme weather conditions (hot and cold).

Schedule

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Normal workdays are Monday through Friday with variable hours. Overtime may be required as needed.
