About the role

The service technician will repair, maintain, and facilitate installation and service of loading dock equipment, industrial doors, and specialty lifts according to plans, blueprints, or drawings. This position requires driving to customer sites in a company truck and maintaining an organized work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Uses hand tools, hoists, jacks, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, and power tools to assemble, install, align, and adjust equipment.
  • Ensures equipment performs to specifications by conducting tests; modifies and fine-tunes equipment.
  • Services and maintains equipment per specification.
  • Disassembles or dismantles equipment.
  • Answers requests and concerns about product and service.
  • Plans and facilitates installation and repair of new or refurbished machinery.
  • Conducts safety inspections of equipment.
  • Red Tags equipment that is deemed subpar.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work with mechanical and electrical components.
  • Basic understanding of how and why electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems work independently or together.
  • Basic understanding of why and how a part failed, and how to replace or repair it.
  • Thorough and broad understanding of a variety of equipment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational school or associate’s degree in a related field highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing, stretching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
  • Visual acuity to properly inspect and modify large and detailed portions of equipment.
  • Manual dexterity to assemble, disassemble, adjust, service, and perform planned maintenance on equipment.
