Service Technician

About the role
We have an immediate opportunity for a Service Technician based onsite at our service center in Austin, Texas. This position involves cleaning, installing, servicing, repairing, and/or refurbishing complex vacuum equipment and systems such as pumps, helium leak detectors, and other electronic instruments both at our Service Center and at customer sites as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Strictly adhere to all Quality and Safety procedures of the Company.
- Use a wide range of hand and power tools, including measuring devices, meters, and scopes.
- Perform documentation such as daily timesheets, service documentation, HR compliance updates, safety training, and certification.
- Tasks in the primary clean room include:
- Taking readings of failure codes and warnings to determine failure mode or mechanism of the pump.
- Disassembling the equipment.
- Confirming customer complaints regarding returning equipment.
- Decontaminating the equipment using parts cleaners, degreasers, high-pressure wash equipment, ultrasonic cleaners, and blast media.
- Assisting with equipment maintenance, as requested.
Requirements
- AA degree and/or 1 year of related experience in the service and repair field of electronic or mechanical equipment.
- General mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to follow repair instructions and testing techniques.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment; self-starter, motivated, creative, flexible, self-confident, deadline-oriented, and able to multi-task.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Windows, as well as general computer and office equipment use (copiers, etc.) and accurate data entry.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to accurately use scales and measurement equipment.
- Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen and 7-year criminal history check (most felonies are disqualifiers; misdemeanors considered case-by-case).
- Must pass respirator fit test (annual retesting required).
- Must maintain facial hair to a minimum for respirator fitment.
- Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
Physical Requirements
- Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, and frequent lifting.
- Must be able to lift tools and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds; regular lifting of 25-pound equipment required.
- Must be medically cleared to wear required PPE for several hours at a time.
- Work requires computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and data-entry via ERP system), attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, including listening and speaking, for interaction with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to manipulate small and large tools to make fine and major adjustments to intricate test apparatus and equipment.

Pay
The targeted compensation range for this position is $24–27 per hour, depending on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.
Schedule
7:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
