About the role
As a Caterpillar Service Technician, you’ll be the go-to expert for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining CAT heavy equipment in our shop. From dozers and excavators to wheel loaders and haul trucks, you’ll ensure every Caterpillar machine performs at peak efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on Caterpillar engines, drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Inspect and maintain CAT equipment, rebuild components, and ensure optimal performance.
- Service air conditioning systems, maintain detailed service records, and collaborate with fellow technicians on complex Caterpillar repairs.
- Use Caterpillar diagnostic tools like Electronic Technician (ET) and Service Information System (SIS) to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Adhere to all safety protocols within the shop environment.
Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment applications, operations, and functions.
- Skilled in using Caterpillar diagnostic tools (ET, SIS).
- Welding experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a technical school program (minimum 2 years) focused on diesel or power equipment systems.
- At least 3 years of relevant industry experience, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience on Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment.

Physical Requirements
- Lifting/Carrying: 40 lb. lift/carry and 50 lb. pulling
- Standing/Sitting: Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
- Dexterity: Normal
- Repetitive Motions: Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
