About the role

As a Service Technician, you will service and repair complex manual and powered wheelchairs and other essential medical equipment. You’ll ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for individuals who depend on it daily by following manufacturer specifications and using current resources.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment both in the shop and in the field; obtain quotes as needed.
• Maintain rental and stock equipment, keeping it clean, organized, and in reliable working order.
• Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop/warehouse.
• Maintain delivery vehicles to ensure safe operation, cleanliness, and organization.
• Receive, store, and ship parts for equipment while tracking inventory accurately.
• Complete thorough and timely documentation, including obtaining signatures and submitting reports.
• Educate customers and caregivers on proper use, care, and safety of equipment.
• Perform minor fittings and adjustments to customize equipment for user comfort.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in required in-service training to stay updated on industry practices and product knowledge.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED or minimum one year of related experience.
• Minimum of two years of relevant mechanical experience; medical equipment experience preferred.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools for equipment repair.
• Basic computer skills (Word Processing, Email, Internet) for documentation and communication.
• Strong problem-solving skills to assess and resolve equipment issues quickly.
• Valid State Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with wheelchair repair or medical equipment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull equipment weighing over 100 lbs.
• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and kneeling.
• Strong manual dexterity for equipment manipulation and repairs.
• Ability to work in inclement weather, especially during field operations.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
