Service Technician

General Description / Purpose

The Service Technician position is responsible for providing customer service and maintenance functions to Loram customers within a specific region. Maintaining unit uptime to customer expectations is critical to customer satisfaction, railroad fuel economy, and railroad’s wheel/rail life.

Essential Job Functions

• Service top of rail and gauge face lubricator units to specified guidelines
• Perform lubrication service program for railroad customers
• Uses logic and methods to solve problems to find effective solutions
• Understand and adhere to general railroad and Loram operating rules
• Manage inventory held on maintenance vehicle through company processes
• Plans work based on length and task difficulty, develops schedules, and anticipates and adjusts for problems to meet objectives
• Able to work independently
• Process work orders and complete all necessary delivery tickets, warranty paperwork, and returns through approved company processes
• Proactive problem resolution
• Build customer and supplier relations for improved products and services
• Work with Sales Department to ensure customer expectations are met

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Maintain railroad safety training and certifications
• Ability to obtain a CDL

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical
• 1+ years of Field service experience with customer facing role
• 2+ years working in a railroad environment
• Basic computer skills

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and role-specific assessments, which may include DOT Physical Exam, Regulated (DOT) DS/BAT, Human Performance Evaluation (HPE), and Audiogram
• Successful completion of an eVerifile/eRailSafe background check as required by Loram’s railroad customers (ongoing eligibility subject to compliance with eRailSafe standards)
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (Motor Vehicle Record check conducted upon hire and annually thereafter)
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

Compensation

The pay range for this position is between $47,200-$66,000. Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.
