Service Technician
About the role
The Service Technician position is responsible for providing customer service and maintenance functions to Loram customers within a specific region. Maintaining unit uptime to customer expectations is critical to customer satisfaction, railroad fuel economy, and railroad’s wheel/rail life.
Responsibilities
- Service top of rail and gauge face lubricator units to specified guidelines
- Perform lubrication service program for railroad customers
- Use logic and methods to solve problems to find effective solutions
- Understand and adhere to general railroad and Loram operating rules
- Manage inventory held on maintenance vehicle through company processes
- Plan work based on length and task difficulty, develop schedules, and anticipate and adjust for problems to meet objectives
- Work independently
- Process work orders and complete all necessary delivery tickets, warranty paperwork, and returns through approved company processes
- Proactively resolve problems
- Build customer and supplier relations for improved products and services
- Work with Sales Department to ensure customer expectations are met

Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Maintain railroad safety training and certifications
- Ability to obtain a CDL
Preferred qualifications
- Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical
- 1+ years of field service experience with customer-facing role
- 2+ years working in a railroad environment, field service, and basic computer skills
Pre-employment requirements
This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and role-specific assessments. Components may include DOT Physical Exam, Regulated (DOT) DS/BAT, Human Performance Evaluation (HPE), and Audiogram. Position requires successful completion of an eVerifile/eRailSafe background check as required by Loram’s railroad customers. Ongoing eligibility is subject to compliance with eRailSafe standards. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be conducted upon hire and annually thereafter in accordance with Loram’s Driving Policy. Successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

Pay
The pay range for this position is between $47,200 and $66,000.
