About the role
The Service Technician position is responsible for providing customer service and maintenance functions to Loram customers within a specific region. Maintaining unit uptime to customer expectations is critical to customer satisfaction, railroad fuel economy, and railroad’s wheel/rail life.
Responsibilities
Functional/Technical Skills
- Service top of rail and gauge face lubricator units to specified guidelines
- Perform lubrication service program for railroad customers
- Use logic and methods to solve problems to find effective solutions
- Understand and adhere to general railroad and Loram operating rules
Managing and Measuring Work
- Manage inventory held on maintenance vehicle through company processes
- Plan work based on length and task difficulty, develop schedules, and anticipate and adjust for problems to meet objectives
- Able to work independently
Written Communication
- Process work orders and complete all necessary delivery tickets, warranty paperwork, and returns through approved company processes
- Proactive problem resolution
Customer Focus
- Build customer and supplier relations for improved products and services
- Work with Sales Department to ensure customer expectations are met

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Maintain railroad safety training and certifications
- Ability to obtain a CDL
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical
- 1+ years of field service experience with customer-facing role
- 2+ years working in a railroad environment, field service, and basic computer skills
Pre-employment Requirements
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and role-specific assessments (may include DOT Physical Exam, Regulated (DOT) DS/BAT, Human Performance Evaluation (HPE), and Audiogram)
- Successful completion of an eVerifile/eRailSafe background check as required by Loram’s railroad customers; ongoing eligibility subject to compliance with eRailSafe standards
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check conducted upon hire and annually thereafter per Loram’s Driving Policy
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
Working Conditions
- 100% travel, using any method of transportation; adequate transportation to and from work sites required
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

- Physical capabilities: stand, sit, walk, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, hear, taste, and smell

- Tolerate variable and sometimes extreme physical conditions during visits or inspections of company equipment in a railroad environment

Pay
Pay range: $47,200 – $66,000 annually. Compensation determined based on skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.
