About the role
This Field Service Technician position supports Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Division by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating compressors (including Centac and ECC models) and related compressed air system components. The role uses precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting and requires familiarity with all operations and parts manuals for the equipment serviced.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed air equipment.
- Interact with customers to address existing and unanticipated equipment concerns.
- Collaborate with the Service Coordinator to order and gather parts and supplies for installations and repairs.
- Assist and train apprentices and fellow Field Service Technicians.
- Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with customers and coworkers.
- Provide technical assistance on equipment pre-commissioning, start-ups, installations, and repairs, performing hands-on work with limited guidance from the Master Technician.
- Increase customer awareness of Ingersoll Rand solutions such as Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, and Leak Detection.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial or commercial mechanical systems.
- Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations (e.g., DUI in the past 5 years, hit-and-run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, or multiple preventable collisions in the past 3 years).
- On-call availability starting after the first 90 days; on-call weeks last one week and occur as often as every four weeks (frequency set by the hiring manager).
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role: regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling, and lifting/moving weight limits as defined by the safety policy.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Core Competencies
- Ability to read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
- Advanced network systems installations (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
- Basic vibration troubleshooting.
- Basic Air Quality knowledge (system compressor/dryer and air treatment).
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer use; working proficiency with handheld devices (e.g., smartphone, iPad) and network-based tools.
- Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost-efficient manner.
Preferences
- Industrial air compressor maintenance and knowledge.
- EPA Certification.
- Veterans/Active-Duty Military are encouraged to apply.
Travel & Work Arrangements
- Daily travel within a 3-hour radius of the service area.
- Company vehicle and fuel card provided.
Pay
Starting pay ranges from $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, hourly position.
