Service Technician

About the Role

The Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment in a commercial environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify electrical problems in systems, equipment, or components using testing instruments and techniques.
• Perform repairs, replacements, and adjustments to electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and equipment while ensuring proper functionality and safety compliance.
• Respond to service calls and work orders from clients, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
• Adhere to electrical codes, regulations, and safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with electrical system installations, including wiring, panels, switches, and other components, ensuring compliance with specifications and electrical codes.
• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and service on electrical systems for clients with maintenance contracts, including preventive maintenance and recommendations for improvements.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service, explaining electrical issues, repair options, and preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities, generating reports and updating logs as required.
• Identify opportunities for system upgrades, energy-efficient solutions, or equipment replacements to enhance performance, safety, and efficiency.
• Stay updated with advancements in electrical technology, industry trends, and regulations through continued learning and professional development.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Valid Electrician’s License (depending on location/project).
• At least 3–5 years of lighting and electrical experience.
• Valid and current driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a drug and background screen.
• Extended hours and weekend work may be required based on job and site needs.
• Regular attendance is essential.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
• Lift up to 75 pounds.
• Constantly moving on your feet for 8+ hours per day.
• Climb ladders (all types) and perform overhead work for full-day assignments.
• Access all levels of a building, including using OSHA-approved construction ladders or stairs under construction.
• Good vision (normal or corrected) and ability to positively identify colors of wires.
• Comprehend and read prints and schematics.
• Bend conduit by hand with hand benders and use power tools, including saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
• Dig trenches using hand tools or power equipment.
• Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, basic drawings, and written instructions.
• Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas-powered).

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience and paid weekly.
