About the role

The Service Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing Toyota and Scion vehicles, adhering to factory standards and Toyota’s commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform factory-recommended maintenance services (oil changes, tire rotations, fluid inspections, etc.)
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues using Toyota’s diagnostic tools and systems (Techstream, TIS, etc.)
  • Execute warranty repairs in compliance with Toyota Motor Corporation’s guidelines
  • Accurately document all work performed and parts used in the dealership’s repair order system
  • Communicate findings and repair recommendations with the Service Advisor and customers as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or automotive trade school preferred
  • Toyota or manufacturer-specific training (T-TEN program graduates encouraged to apply)
  • ASE Certification(s) preferred or willingness to obtain
  • 1-3 years of professional automotive experience preferred (dealership experience a plus)
  • Familiarity with Toyota diagnostic systems and repair procedures
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Maintenance Technician (Level 1): Perform routine maintenance and inspections while gaining experience with Toyota service processes.
  • Certified Technician (Level 2): Obtain Toyota factory certifications and handle light repair work, diagnostics, and warranty services.
  • Expert Technician (Level 3): Diagnose complex issues, mentor junior techs, and specialize in advanced systems such as hybrid technology.
  • Master Diagnostic Technician (MDT): Achieve Toyota’s highest level of technical expertise, capable of solving advanced electrical, hybrid, and drivability issues.
  • Shop Foreman / Service Manager / Technical Trainer: Lead service operations, oversee technician performance, or advance into management or training roles within the dealership or Toyota network.
