About the Role
Elevated Facility Services is seeking a skilled, safety-focused, and customer service-oriented Service Technician to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of elevators, lifts, and related vertical transportation equipment. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, the ability to diagnose complex issues, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service while maintaining compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex maintenance, servicing, repair, and troubleshooting of elevators, dumbwaiters, wheelchair lifts, and related equipment.
- Investigate electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic malfunctions and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Diagnose equipment issues and complete repairs to restore safe and reliable operation.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance inspections to ensure equipment performance and code compliance.
- Perform annual safety testing of elevator systems and safety devices.
- Inspect and evaluate equipment condition and recommend repairs, upgrades, or modernization opportunities.
- Assist in determining the suitability of existing equipment, proposed modifications, and new installations.
- Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and maintenance records accurately and timely.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry standards.
- Respond to emergency service calls and participate in an on-call rotation as required.
- Communicate professionally with customers, building owners, and internal team members regarding service activities and equipment status.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certified Elevator Technician (CET) certification, Elevator Mechanic License, or equivalent industry certification preferred.
- Previous experience servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing elevator systems required.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
Skills
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex elevator and lift equipment issues.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized industry equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Experience using hoisting, rigging, chain falls, and lifting equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage service routes effectively.
Environmental Demands
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, climb ladders, and walk beams.
- Must be able to lift and carry tools and materials weighing in excess of 50 pounds and be able to raise and carry with assistance items weighing 200 pounds.
- Must be able to work from high ladders and scaffolding.
- Must be able to work safely in close proximity to moving and working equipment.
- Must be available to work on an on-call basis in cases of emergency.
Work Environment
- May work in dusty and dirty places such as elevator shafts, pits, or other mechanical spaces where temperatures may exceed 100°F and equipment may be oily and greasy.
