Service Technician

This position reports to the Service Manager.

About the role

The Service Technician performs a range of HVACR jobs for industrial, commercial, and residential customers. Customer-based activities require an individual who is decisive, tactful, dependable, and possesses initiative and strong communication skills across all customer groups. A Service Technician must accurately diagnose and efficiently complete jobs to the mutual benefit of the customer and Cosby Heating & Cooling.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a member of ad hoc Service Department teams to conduct HVACR servicing jobs promptly and efficiently.
• Perform routine HVACR service activities without direct oversight or on-site assistance.
• Assist Senior Service Technician(s) in training other employees on service-related subjects, including call-back prevention and equipment protocols.
• Conduct point-of-work sales of IAQ services, unit components, and residential service contracts.
• Develop lead referrals for the sales staff.
• Conduct non-service work in support of the IAQ and Installation Departments, as assigned.
• Perform related duties as directed by the Service Manager.

Requirements

• High school graduate and graduate of a post-secondary HVACR program of two or more years in duration.
• One or more years of successful experience as a commercial service or installation technician.
• Good verbal and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers' instructions and clearly communicate with residential and commercial customers, suppliers, and other employees.
• Physical ability to perform duties under conditions, circumstances, and extreme weather found in the state.
• Interest and initiative in maintaining and advancing HVACR skills through self-study, company training, manufacturers' workshops, and other professional development activities.
• Current state operator's license and ability to operate all vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of initial employment.
• Must be insurable by current Cosby Heating & Cooling insurance carrier.
• Ability to work under pressures of time, non-standard schedule, weather, customer needs, and backlog constraints.
