Service Technician

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology
• Reports any additional work required on equipment to ensure proper operation and safety
• Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on-time submission of information
• Performs diagnostics and repairs in the field as required
• Handles customer issues objectively and tactfully
• Answers service phone calls and assists the customer accordingly
• Operates and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
• Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
• Participates in John Deere training courses and other continuing education classes, as assigned
• Performs related and other duties, as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
• Valid driver’s license is required
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience performing mechanical service repairs required
• Ag Tech Graduate or 2 years of John Deere experience preferred
• Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment, following Technical Manual procedures
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
• Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes
• Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
