Service Technician
About the role
Bob Brown Chevrolet, located in Urbandale, Iowa, is seeking skilled Service Technicians. As a third-generation family-owned and operated business with over 63 years in the automotive industry, we pride ourselves on high employee retention and a welcoming work environment. Our newly renovated service department features climate-controlled shops, in-ground lifts, and 20,000-pound lifts, allowing us to service medium-duty trucks and RVs. We are looking for Service Technicians to join our growing team!
Responsibilities
- Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership policies.
- Inspect and test-drive vehicles to ensure they run smoothly and safely.
- Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
- Communicate directly with the Service Advisor to inform customers about any additional service needed and provide an estimate of time for additional repairs.
- Communicate directly with Service Advisors and all necessary parties to ensure customers receive exceptional service.
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems and components.
- Complete required factory and dealership training.
- Install equipment as specified by the customer or company.
- Assist and mentor junior technicians when needed.
- Maintain a professional and clean workspace.
- Report to management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its personnel, or customers.
Requirements
- 2+ years of Service Technician experience preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent, ASE Certification required.
- B level qualifications, including Diagnostic, Electrical, and Engine Repair.
- Dexterity, requiring a steady hand and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Mechanical and troubleshooting skills, and ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills and basic computer competencies.
- A positive, friendly attitude, along with an eagerness to improve.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic environment.
- A strong work ethic and ability to be a team player.
- The ability to learn new technology, repair, and service procedures and specifications.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid Driver's License.
Qualifications

Compensation
Flat rate hourly compensation, based on experience, training, and proficiency. Participation in the GM Tech Excellence Bonus Program with potential of $12,000 annually and up to 250,000 GM rewards points valued at an additional $2,500.
