About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Service Technician to join our Davenport manufacturing team, critical to our overall business strategy and fueling Allredi's growth across North America. This role requires previous mechanical experience along with a hunger to learn and grow with the business.
Responsibilities
- Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial machinery or equipment.
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
- Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using testing devices.
- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
- Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
- Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
- Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials as necessary.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed.
- Study schematics or manufacturers' manuals to determine the correct installation or operation of machinery.
- Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.
- Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
- Keep rental area organized for inbound/outbound rental exchange.
- Manage company-owned tool inventory.
- Keep the Service area safe and organized.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.
Requirements
- High school degree or GED.
- Completion of Trade School Certificate Program or Associates Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including machine and/or tool design, uses, and maintenance requirements/history.
- Ability to apply proper principles, techniques, and procedures to the repair and maintenance of industrial machinery or equipment.
- Ability to determine cause of operating errors and decide how to correct the issue(s).
- Ability to discern what type and frequency of required maintenance is needed on industrial machinery or equipment.
- Ability to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Ability to interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Ability to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
Schedule
Typical Monday-Friday 8-5 office hours. Work is day-shift with some evenings and weekends required to meet business goals. Overtime and travel may be required as part of normal business operations.
Work Environment
- Exposure to the Warehouse/Operations areas where certain areas may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection is common.
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration is common.
- Exposure to outdoor elements such as heat, cold, and rain is common.
- Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed.
- May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.
- Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting up to 55 lbs as required. Proper lifting techniques required.
