Service Technician 2 - Charlotte, NC

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Service Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will service and support existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs, and handling small projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as “our customer’s best service provider” to ensure Convergint remains the customer’s first choice for service.
• Respond to routine and non-routine customer service calls, scheduled maintenance, and emergency/after-hours calls on a timely basis; diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace defective parts, and debug systems for routine problems.
• Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
• Analyze repair requirements, provide customers with appropriate solutions, and complete necessary repairs and replacements.
• Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customers and Convergint to ensure accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
• Provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits, consultation, and/or database management and manipulation.
• Install, configure, and support a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
• Execute all service calls in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as company health and safety policies.
• Communicate and collaborate with team members to improve overall operations.
• Perform preventative maintenance for installed systems, typically less complex.
• Work closely with other specialists to cross-train on servicing existing customers.
• Provide technical assistance, systems checkout for new and existing installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance and repair routines for installed Security systems.
• Install small or less complex projects.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
• Solid technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems and/or electronic security systems.
• Solid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and seek solutions.
• Must be a self-starter and work well with direct supervision.
• Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., works with hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, wire strippers, hacksaws, crimpers).
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis; minimal overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience.
• Minimum Experience: 3-5 years servicing, integrating, and programming access control systems.
• Preferred Experience (not required):
  • Relevant field service.
  • CCTV experience: Milestone / Genetec.
  • Access Control experience: AMAG / Lenel / Genetec / Software House - CCURE / S2.
  • Intrusion experience: DMP / Bosch.
