Service & Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment) - Henrietta

About the Role

Under general supervision, the candidate will perform journey-level mechanic tasks on the repair and maintenance of automobiles, heavy trucks, and construction equipment and attachments. Responsibilities include repairing and maintaining motors, generators, and other mechanical and electrical components of stationary or mobile power-driven equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faulty vehicle and/or equipment operation.
• Perform mechanical repairs covering multiple aspects of automotive and/or diesel systems.
• Maintain and repair motors, generators, and other mechanical/electrical components.

Requirements

• Four years of experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic or an associate's degree in automotive or diesel repair technology.
• Education substitutions:
  • Graduation from a technical/vocational program (e.g., B.O.C.E.S.) in automotive or diesel technology may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Graduation from a one-year post-high school certificate program in automotive or diesel repair technology may substitute for up to two years of experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type operated.
• Must obtain and maintain a CDL Class B license issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles (candidates without one must obtain a permit within 30 days of appointment and the license by the end of probation).
• Pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing required under the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act.
• Must obtain a valid NYS Inspection Certification before the end of the probationary period.

Pay

Salary range includes the following components:

• Base Pay: $31.95/hour
• Geographic Pay: $3.37/hour
