Southern States Toyotalift is seeking experienced Forklift Technicians to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring our customers' forklift fleets operate efficiently and reliably through proactive maintenance and expert repairs.

About the role

As a Forklift Technician, you will perform planned maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Toyota and other brand forklifts at customer sites. You’ll work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality service that prevents breakdowns and maximizes uptime for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on forklifts according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct thorough safety checks and ensure all equipment meets OSHA and ANSI standards.
  • Provide detailed reports on service performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle, including tools, parts, and documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by delivering professional, courteous, and timely service.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and best practices at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with new technologies, products, and service techniques.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certification or associate degree in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a forklift technician or in a similar role (e.g., diesel mechanic, heavy equipment technician).
  • Strong knowledge of forklift systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites within the assigned region and work occasional overtime as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Skills

  • Experience with Toyota forklifts and familiarity with other brands (e.g., JLG, PowerBoss, Combilift) is a plus.
  • Certification from Toyota or other forklift manufacturers is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills for documenting service reports and accessing technical resources.
