About the role
Oversee the day-to-day scheduling and management of the branch, labor, and personnel, including Generator Technicians and Preventative Maintenance staff. Prioritize workflow and maintain a clean and safe environment. Build and maintain customer relationships in the region.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day scheduling of all labor and preventative maintenance work in the department
- Manage all standby service technicians and preventative maintenance personnel
- Answer and resolve all customer and/or vendor calls; involve upper management when required
- Coordinate with the sales team to execute customer requirements and needs
- Review closed service jobs prior to billing the customer
- Determine training needs of current staff and inform the branch manager
- Recognize staffing needs, recruit, and develop team members with the branch manager’s support
- Develop strong relationships with external customers, vendors, and internal personnel
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of previous experience managing in the service industry
- G.E.D. or High School Diploma
- Knowledge of diesel/gaseous engines and generators/automatic transfer switches (preferred but not mandatory)
- Ability to effectively supervise, motivate, and evaluate others
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven experience in customer focus and relationship-building
- Basic knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems
- Problem-solving skills and ability to recommend resolutions
- Ability to respond to and diffuse highly stressful/emotional situations with customers
- Ability to promote and maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment
- Ability to protect company assets and interests
- Ability to work flexible hours and days
Schedule
- Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Weekend hours/after normal hours as necessary
- Must be available after hours to dispatch technicians for emergency callouts
- Some temporary adjustments to starting and quitting time as workload requires
Work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings.
