About the Role

A Waukesha Pearce Industries (WPI) Generator Tech Class A is expected to work on generators and transfer switches, performing tasks ranging from oil changes to major repairs. Responsibilities include maintaining the service truck, tools, and equipment in good working order, as well as performing load testing, warranty repairs, and startups based on manufacturer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs, load testing, warranty repairs, and startups.
• Attend service schools and training programs offered by WPI.
• Complete service reports daily.
• Perform weekly truck inspections as required.
• Fill out required JSA (Job Safety Analysis) form on every job.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of previous generator experience or comparable manufacturer certification.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Knowledge of testing and load generators/engines.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Working knowledge of generator and electrical theory and how a generator works.
• Trade School or manufacturer certification preferred.
• Knowledge of both diesel and gaseous engines and fuel system requirements.

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per WPI requirements.
• Ability to pass and maintain drug and alcohol testing requirements as outlined by WPI.
• Computer literate, with preference for a Windows-based environment (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, and twist several times daily.
• Ability to work on generators/engines from oil changes to major repairs.
• Maintain the service truck, tools, and equipment in good working order.
• Ability to work flexible hours and days.
• Dependable and able to work independently.
• Courteous and able to maintain good client relations.
• Promote and maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
• Meet minimum performance standards for all assignments.
• Protect company assets and interests.

Schedule

Typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime and weekend hours as necessary. Position involves outside work.

Additional Information

Continued employment and future advancement in the position of Generator Tech Class A will be contingent on your ability to learn from WPI and manufacturer-sponsored training classes. Failure to complete and pass these training classes could prevent future advancement.
