Responsibilities
- Identifies customers’ unique needs/desires related to their garage doors and openers; then matches those with specific product and service offerings to create ideal solutions
- Develops product and pricing proposals for each opportunity and presents those to the homeowners in person
- Maintains the quote log and other sales activity reporting as required
- Adheres to quote and estimating standards, including forms and processes which drive timeliness, accuracy, ethics and professionalism
- Ensures all quotes and bids adhere to gross margin expectations for the division
- Buils and maintains relationships at all levels of customers and potential customers
- Establishes NS’ credibility with customers, acting as a solution provider
- Fully understands NS’ available products, makes recommendations and explains product applications to customers
- Reviews supplier confirmations to ensure correct products have been ordered and the shipping date is accurate
- Communicates with the Operations department for project requirements, specifications and scheduling
- Proactively supports the NS safety program and initiatives, complies with all safety policies and procedures and ensures utilization of safe work practices while on site and in the office
- Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules
- Sites inspections of all jobs prior to the installation date, and follow-up visits as necessary
- Participates in Trade and Home shows
- Evenings and weekends are required based on customer needs
- Participation in various networking groups and other lead generation activities are required
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
- 3+ years of progressive experience in direct to consumer (B2C) sales, preferably in the home improvement, building products or service/installation industry
- Sales, estimating, and job coordination or related experience is beneficial
- Technical & Practical Skills: Strong negotiation skills and persuasive ability; Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks; Strong organization and decision-making ability; Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, etc.; Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as margin, mark up, discounts, percentages, area, volume, etc.; Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills; Working knowledge of MS Office suite; Word, Excel, Outlook; Willingness to learn products, systems and processes
- Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business, construction, or related field is preferred; A record of continuing education in related topics is desirable
