About the role
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Field Service Technician to join our team. The technician will install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for residential and/or commercial clients. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, a commitment to safety, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- Act as the on-site representative for Control Solutions, handling installation, maintenance, repair, and supervision of building management systems and components, including communication lines, controllers, actuators, system sensors, electrical, and networking components.
- Prepare for site visits by reviewing assigned jobs, identifying missing or needed parts, and determining if Service Engineer support is required.
- Check in with the customer upon arrival and confirm all issues are resolved before leaving the site. Communicate any unresolved issues to the customer and service manager to coordinate return visits if necessary.
- Complete service tickets prior to leaving the site and update ticket status accordingly.
- Gather all necessary information for quotes and submit opportunities through ConnectWise.
- Contact the office before leaving the site and complete timesheets per company policy.
- Obtain overtime authorization and notify the service manager prior to exceeding weekly hours.
- Follow all job site and company safety regulations.
- Ensure correct program loads and VPNs are installed on your computer. Report any IT issues immediately to the IT Department and service manager.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours service calls, as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or HVAC certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in HVAC service, repair, or installation.
- Experience working on/servicing control systems on the Niagara platform (e.g., Distech, JCI, Honeywell, Alerton) is preferred but not required.
- Experience with protocols such as BACnet (IP/MSTP), Modbus, Lon, N2, etc., is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid driver’s license.
