About the role

Trane in Denver, Colorado is hiring for a Service Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will work with Trane Account Managers and building owners, providing estimates and quotes for HVAC service projects and agreements. Trane focuses on delivering total solutions to provide customers with the most energy-efficient buildings.

This is a safety-sensitive role that may require passing additional drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Create quotes for service agreements and all quoted works in support of our Service Account Managers and Controls Service Account Managers.
  • Responsible for cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), and other construction-related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding on or determining the price of projects.
  • Develop detailed scope based on Account Managers' design-build scope, including system sketches, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposals, vendor/sub-contractor quotes, and points lists.
  • Responsible for the take-off and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, and options.
  • Identify possible cost-saving opportunities and/or risk items on various projects.
  • Maintain competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards.
  • Develop the scope of work for sub-contractors and optimize job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials and services.
  • Hold job pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related study preferred with a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ related experience; or technical certificate with five (5) years related experience; or HVAC Technician experience with a combination of education and related field experience.
  • Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; we prioritize practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with our leadership principles.
  • Working knowledge of all facets of commercial HVAC and building services.
  • Working knowledge of all facets of construction, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to organize data, prepare professional proposals, and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Experience using Salesforce or other customer relationship management (CRM) platforms to manage opportunities, track customer interactions, and maintain accurate sales and project records preferred.
  • Experience with financial and business acumen and a history of running projects on time and on budget.
  • Proven experience prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines within a high-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Experience working directly with building owners is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations (e.g., DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving) or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

Schedule

Monday to Thursday: work onsite with colleagues. Fridays: choose your work location, balancing work requirements.

Pay

Annual base salary range: $78,406.66 - $109,479.99. This is a salaried position and is not eligible for incentives, sales commissions, or overtime pay. Compensation will depend on factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
