About the role
Trane in Corpus Christi is hiring for a Service Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will work with Trane Account Managers and building owners, providing estimates and quotes for HVAC service projects and agreements. The focus is on delivering total solutions to provide customers with the most energy-efficient buildings.
The work is on-site (5 days a week).
Responsibilities
- Create quotes for service agreements and all quoted works in support of Service Account Managers and Controls Service Account Managers.
- Prepare cost estimates covering materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), and other construction-related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding on or determining project pricing.
- Develop detailed scope based on Account Managers' design-build scope, including system sketches, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposals, vendor/sub-contractor quotes, and points lists.
- Perform take-offs and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, and options.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and risk items for various projects.
- Maintain competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards.
- Develop the scope of work for sub-contractors and optimize job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors.
- Hold pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related study preferred; or minimum of 1–3 years of related estimating experience; or minimum 5 years of HVAC Technician experience.
- Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with leadership principles are prioritized.
- Working knowledge of construction facets, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, is preferred.
- Preferred experience with financial and business acumen and a history of running projects on time and on budget.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines in a high-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Experience working directly with building owners is a plus.
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations (e.g., DUI, hit & run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, or multiple smaller infractions/preventable collisions in the previous 3 years).
Pay
Annual base salary range: $49,400.00 – $87,639.99 (exception hourly).
