About the role
Effective December 2026, a full-time Service Coordinator position for the Preschool Special Education program exists within the Student Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit.
Responsibilities
- Initiate, coordinate, and complete the evaluation process for children ages 3 to 5 and determine eligibility for special education services.
- Initiate, coordinate and complete the transition process for students entering the Intermediate Unit from the Infant Toddler program.
- Evaluate student in the areas of cognition, receptive and expressive language, fine and gross motor, social and emotional, and self-help skills utilizing standardized tests and developmental tests appropriate to student functioning level.
- Collaborate with speech and language pathologist, school psychologist, occupational therapist, and/or physical therapist to complete multidisciplinary team assessments of children ages 3–5.
- Work in conjunction with the family and MDE team in development of integrated goals and outcomes for the individualized education plan (IEP).
- Serve as the Local Education Agency representative (LEA) to inform families of procedures in preschool special education. Educate parents and others regarding the provision of services.
- Coordinate and complete Early Childhood Screenings.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor-level degree in education.
- Experience in special education.
- PDE certification in Special Education.
- Experience with evaluations, referrals and IEPs.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7.5 hours per day, 194 days per year.
Pay
- Instructional I: $62,155 – $89,730/yr.
- Instructional II: $64,834 – $93,324/yr.
- Master's Degree: $69,353 – $101,911/yr.
- Master's + 15: $72,740 – $105,924/yr.
- Master's + 30: $74,415 – $107,845/yr.
Placement on salary scale is commensurate with years of experience in a relevant role.
