About the Role
We are seeking energetic and professional Servers to join our team at Tavern on Fourth, a vibrant venue combining a sports tavern with interactive games, high-quality food, and beverages. This role is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, fun environment while delivering outstanding guest service.
Responsibilities
- Greet all guests and take beverage and food orders promptly and professionally.
- Serve cocktails and menu items to bar guests; up-sell when taking orders.
- Maintain an energetic, outgoing, and fun demeanor while upholding professionalism.
- Provide outstanding and professional service with a smile to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively and clearly with co-workers and kitchen staff, both verbally and using the point-of-sale system.
- Engage with guests clearly, patiently, and with good humor.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of all menu items and concept products to guide the guest experience and drive sales.
- Consistently check guests' identification to ensure compliance with minimum age requirements for alcohol consumption.
- Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when service should cease; notify management of incidents involving excessive consumption or impaired guests.
- Complete all assigned side work accurately.
- Account for all sales and payments from guests accurately.
- Alert management of any service or safety issues.
- Perform service recovery gestures according to established guidelines to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments.
- Coordinate with bartenders and kitchen staff for ordering and receipt of food and beverages.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of serving experience in a fast-paced food and beverage venue, preferably in a nightclub environment.
- Knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, preparation methods, and garnishes is preferred.
- Must meet state legal age requirements for serving alcohol.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Must be courteous, pleasant, and good-natured.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with guests, bartenders, wait staff, cooks, and supervisors.
- Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state regulations.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills for taking orders, handling cash, and completing paperwork.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
Skills
- Handling, carrying, or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., barware, carts, boxes, bottles).
- Ability to stand and move efficiently and safely throughout the facility during each shift.
- Safe and effective handling of food, objects, products, and utensils.
- Physical tasks including bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting.
