Server Systems Administrator
About the role
As a Server Systems Administrator within Epic's Hosting entity, you will ensure our systems are in optimal condition to support healthcare organizations using our software. You will develop tools, troubleshoot, debug, and monitor system health for large healthcare organizations. You will also create disaster and contingency plans, share expert knowledge, coordinate with hardware vendors, and work on cutting-edge technology.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain operating systems and related tools
- Debug and troubleshoot code
- Monitor system health
- Create and implement disaster recovery plans
- Share and develop expert knowledge in systems and database administration
- Coordinate with third-party hardware vendors
- Collaborate with developers, technical support, software testers, and implementation specialists
- Work on high-stakes, critical IT projects affecting Epic's entire ecosystem
- Build valuable industry-wide IT skills
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Physics, Engineering, MIS, or a related field
- Experience in Linux or Windows system administration, virtualization, scripting, automation, or DevOps processes
- Proven track record of academic and professional success
- Willingness to travel 1-2 weeks per year
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
- Available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts
- Eligible for relocation to the Madison, WI area (reimbursed)
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Linux or Windows system administration, virtualization, scripting, automation, or DevOps processes
- Ability to follow policies and procedures, and escalate issues when necessary
- Experience in security and meeting security responsibilities defined in policies and procedures
