Server (Special Events)/Seasonal Employment
About the role
The Special Events department at Chautauqua Institution operates the Athenaeum Hotel, providing five-star event service from April through November. This includes weddings, banquets, conferences, and special occasion celebrations.
Responsibilities
- Set up and tear down of any event.
- Have a thorough knowledge of both the event food and beverage service.
- Able to carry trays, serve guests, oversee and restock buffets.
- Occasionally prepare food, transport items to catered events, set tables, clear/bus tables.
- Have a basic understanding of the Athenaeum Hotel's history and activities and services within Chautauqua Institution.
- Able to work flexible hours to accommodate guest and special event needs.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- All other duties as assigned.
About Your Compensation
Candidates may earn up to $19.00/Hour, starting at $16.50/Hour, with demonstrated experience and qualifications.
About The Referral Program
Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program offers an active employee a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for a new candidate hired and employed for at least 90-days from the first physical date of work. For seasonal positions, the new candidate must remain employed for at least 30-days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season, which is the last Sunday in August.
About Your Schedule
Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement. Scheduled hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Part-time work is available pre/post the summer season (mid-April to late-October).

No employer-provided housing is available for this position. Applicants should plan to secure independent housing or reside within a commutable distance.
