Job Description
The primary role of the Server is to ensure the guest has a memorable experience by providing excellent customer service through solid organizational skills and exceptional people skills from the moment the guest arrives through the time of their departure.
Essential Job Functions
- Greet guests and present daily specials, menu changes and answer questions regarding food and beverage.
- Perform the Steps of Service according to IHG Standards.
- Serve three to four tables, as determined by management.
- Stock stations and complete pre and post job duties as outlined by the manager.
- Able to up sell alcohol and food items.
- Able to use a POS computer system to ring in food and beverage orders.
- Able to interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner.
- Process guests payment transactions as outlined in the cash and charge procedures.
- Maintain specific side-work and ensure the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant.
- Able to clear and reset tables.
- Check identification of guests to ensure guests are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuse to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age.
- Observe guests during meal needs and respond to requests appropriately.
- All guests must be treated in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strive to exceed guests expectations.
- Report to work in a neat and clean uniform. Well-groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential.
- Assist team members as needed.
Competencies
- Knowledge of alcohol service
- Ability to navigate a POS system for food and beverage orders
- Attention to detail with work ensuring accuracy is met and exceed
Education & Experience
- Generally 2-5 years of experience as server in a full service restaurant.
- One must have Micros, touch screen experience.
- One must be a minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages to hotel guest per KY Liquor Law.
Work Environment
This job operates in a restaurant which at times can be a loud setting. This role may be exposed to hazards, including, but not limited to cuts, slips, falls, tripping and burns. Hands must be frequently washed.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk and hear.
- Very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching.
- Occasional lifting of products weighing up to 25 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part- or full-time non-exempt position with expectation to work necessary business hours to ensure business needs are met during the operation of the Restaurant and Outlets.
